Connecticut School Counselor Association

Promoting Excellence in School Counseling since 1963

The Connecticut School Counselor Association (CSCA) promotes excellence in professional school counseling by advocating for the role and programs of school counselors and by demonstrating leadership in developing new and supportive services and programs for its members. The role of the professional school counselor is to foster student growth in academic, personal/social and career development so they achieve successes in school and are prepared to lead fulfilling lives as responsible members of society.

Throughout its one hundred year history, the school counseling profession has responded to the political, economic and social changes in American society. Changes in demographics, family structures, expanding communication systems, advances in technology and federal and state laws related to the welfare of children are just a few of the issues that have had an impact on the role of the school counselor and on defining the parameters of the school counseling profession in order to address the challenges that face our schools and children in the 21st century.

Becoming a member of the Connecticut School Counselor Association is a tremendous asset to your professional career. It is an organization that is comprised of school counselors throughout the state of Connecticut.

CSCA is the only organization in CT dedicated to furthering the needs and mission of school counselors. You'll learn about best practices in school counseling. You'll benefit from others' experiences and research. Most of all, you'll join hundreds of other school counselors to share a common vision- to promote the academic, personal/social and career development success of ALL students. CSCA is a chartered division of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).

We believe this website can help us in our efforts to keep all Connecticut counselors informed and supported in this important work that we do for the children and families of our state.
