In the aftermath violence in schools throughout the country, the need for school based mental health supports for students is self-evident. As School Counselors, we seek ways that we can play a role in the changes needed to protect the well-being of our students.
The focus of this session is on ways for varied school support staff to collaborate more effectively to foster the social emotional development of all students through multi-tiered systems. Working as a team, school support staff can improve early identification of students in need of more intensive services, connect families to treatment, and increase school safety.
School based teams of School Counselors, Social Workers, Psychologists, and Clinicians are encouraged to attend together. Participants will gain insight into how the various practitioners can interface within their school buildings and begin planning ways to implement research based strategies. Communication across fields of discipline will play a vital role in impacting student outcomes.
